Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Junior Contract Manager based in Scotland, spending 50% of the week in the Glasgow or Perth offices. The role supports the HVDC programme within the P&C team, focusing on pre- and post-contract procurement, commercial management and value for money on major projects.

Applicants should have a Quantity Surveying degree and be pursuing RICS/CICES membership; NEC/FIDIC experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification and eligible for professional membership (RICS or CICES).
• Experience estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration.
• Experience drafting and interpreting commercial contracts; familiarity with NEC/FIDIC forms is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate contract T&Cs for high-value projects and manage the delivery phase.
• Negotiate prices and ensure value for money for consumers.
• Demonstrate stakeholder engagement and management skills, influence, lead and resolve disputes.
• Involve cost and forecast management via regular cost reporting and adherence to change procedures; manage payments and expenditure.
• Provide robust post-contract commercial management to support project goals and negotiate variations to scope.
