Junior Contract Manager - Tree Works (field and home based)

Location: Cambridge and surrounding areas

Salary: Competitive

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Are you ready to step out of the office and into the field? Do you want to lead essential tree works projects that are vital for infrastructure?

What you’ll do:

At Ground Control, we’re seeking a hands-on, organized, and people-savvy Junior Contract Manager - Tree Works to oversee vegetation clearance projects around powerlines and pylons in the Cambridgeshire area.

You will be a key member of our Utility Arboriculture team, managing teams of arborists and tree surgeons, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading field-based arboriculture projects from start to finish
  • Managing workloads and ensuring efficiency of cutting teams
  • Driving project delivery against KPIs: safety, quality, budget, and client satisfaction
  • Updating work programmes, resolving access issues, liaising with stakeholders
  • Balancing fieldwork with remote working
  • Mentoring junior team members and supporting site audits

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in field-based projects within utilities, landscaping, environmental, or surveying roles
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills, with a love for outdoor work
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and results
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Valid UK driving licence (essential)

Experience in arboriculture or tree work is a bonus but not essential.
