Job description

Are you detail-driven, logical, and ready to take your first step into engineering or manufacturing? We're looking for a Junior Laser Programmer to join our growing team in Thatcham.

In this role, you ll work with advanced CAD/CAM software to create cutting programmes for a CNC laser machine. You ll be transforming technical drawings and customer specs into clear, efficient instructions that help produce top-quality sheet metal components.

Pay & Shift:

• From GBP536 per week
• Full-time, Permanent
• Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Create accurate laser cutting programmes using CAD/CAM software
• Prepare nested layouts to minimise material waste
• Interpret technical drawings and translate them into clean cut files
• Ensure programmes are optimised for machine settings and materials
• Organise and manage digital files for traceability and efficiency
• Liaise with production staff to ensure smooth job flow
• Support continuous improvement initiatives

What You ll Bring:

Desirable (Not Essential):

• Experience with CNC laser machines (e.g., Mazak or similar)
• Familiarity with nesting software or CAM tools
• Understanding of DXF/DWG file formats
• Previous manufacturing or fabrication experience
• Awareness of workshop safety and PPE standards
