Job summary

M-Sport Limited, based at Dovenby Hall, is seeking a Junior Machinist to join the Machine Shop. You will assist in setting up and operating CNC machines, preparing tooling and materials, and interpreting technical drawings to manufacture components for high-performance motorsport projects.

The role offers hands-on training within a skilled team, focusing on accuracy, quality and safe working practices in a fast-paced motorsport environment.

Qualifications

• Education to Level 3 Machining Technician standard.
• Basic understanding of machining principles and CNC machinery.
• Good practical skills and enthusiasm for machinery and engineering equipment.
• Basic ability to read engineering drawings and technical information.
• Strong attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
• Basic understanding of precision measuring equipment and dimensional inspection.
• Proactive problem solving and the ability to seek support when needed.
• Good verbal and written communication and teamwork.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Awareness of safe workshop practices.

Responsibilities

• CNC Machining: assist with setting and operation of CNC machinery to manufacture components per drawings.
• Machine Setup: assist with preparing machines, tooling, work holding and materials for production.
• Tooling & Offsets: understand tooling, cutting conditions and tool offsets with guidance.
• Interpreting Drawings: read engineering drawings and technical information.
• Quality & Standards: ensure work meets required quality standards and procedures.
• Inspection & Verification: carry out inspection using measuring equipment and report issues.
• Technical Development: develop knowledge of machining processes with guidance.
• Documentation: complete job cards, inspection records and paperwork accurately.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: work with Engineering, Design, Workshop and Quality Control.
• General Workshop Duties: maintain housekeeping and safe working conditions.
