A prominent NHS Trust in Southend-on-Sea is seeking a Junior Clinical Fellow Orthogeriatric for a permanent position starting ASAP. This role involves managing the perioperative care of older trauma patients, particularly focusing on femoral fractures. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team and will be encouraged to develop clinical skills in a busy hospital environment.
Applications are invited for a full-time post of Junior Clinical Fellow Orthogeriatric. The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible, and this will be a permanent post.
The successful candidate will gain experience of true multidisciplinary working in a busy hospital. They will gain experience in managing the perioperative care of older trauma patients, predominantly with femoral fractures, from admission through to rehabilitation and discharge. This will involve working closely with the Orthogeriatric medicine Consultant and Senior Clinical Fellow, trauma nurse specialists, orthopaedic surgeons, ward nurses, administrative and clerical staff, therapists, and anaesthetists.
Candidates will require full registration with the General Medical Council. The post-holder will be encouraged to develop clinical, managerial, and quality improvement skills within the Trust. You will work with local managers and professional colleagues to ensure the efficient running of services and will share responsibilities with Consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
Subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service, you are expected to follow Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust policies and procedures, developed in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.
You should ensure adequate arrangements are in place for hospital staff involved in patient care to contact you when necessary. All medical and dental staff employed by health authorities are expected to comply with relevant health and safety policies.
Your duties include providing a high-quality service by assessing and caring for patients referred from the Emergency Department with femoral fractures and other trauma, as well as current in-patients under the Orthogeriatric team.
You can work flexibly within a multidisciplinary team to meet perioperative service needs and assist senior staff in their clinical duties as required.

You will contribute to the ongoing development of care for elderly and frail patients with fractures on orthopaedic wards, supporting the Trust in providing high-quality inpatient care.
