An established healthcare provider is looking for dedicated professionals to join their multidisciplinary team in a dynamic environment. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team including 7 Junior Clinical Fellow doctors, 1 Specialty doctor, 2 Neurology Specialist Registrars, 1 Geriatric Specialist Registrar, 8 consultant Stroke Physicians (comprising 4 Geriatricians, 2 Neurologists, 1 General Physician, and 1 Acute Physician), as well as specialist stroke nurses and a stroke co-ordinator.
The stroke unit (ward 41) features 12 hyperacute and 30 acute/rehabilitation beds. It is part of the Department of Neurosciences, admitting approximately 1400 stroke patients annually. A dedicated 24/7 thrombolysis service has been operational since 2008, serving a population of about 1 million, with around 150 patients treated yearly with IV tPA. A thrombectomy service is currently under development.
A dedicated 'one stop' acute TIA clinic operates 7 days a week, supported by daily carotid ultrasound and MRI services. Over 95% of high-risk patients are seen within 24 hours of referral.
