A prominent healthcare provider in Chorley seeks a Junior Trust Doctor in Medicine. The role involves caring for patients in the Diabetes and General Medicine ward, collaborating with senior clinicians, and participating in ward rounds. Candidates must be flexible in working hours. The Junior Trust Doctor in Medicine is responsible for the admission and care of patients in Diabetes / General Medicine ward. Junior medical cover consists of two Clinical Fellows working alongside one Foundation Year trainee and one Internal Medicine trainee. They will be supervised by one Specialist trainee and one Senior Clinical Fellow and consultants. They are expected to present their cases during ward rounds, maintain full, clear clinical notes, and make appropriate handovers. They are also responsible for looking afterward patients and making necessary referrals.
The current duties of the post do not include working out of hours. Middle grade doctors will be present on site to supervise them at all times. The post-holder will be required to be as flexible as possible in respect of working hours, to allow some flexibility. Junior Doctors may be asked to work on either hospital site in the event of emergencies.
The evolution of working practices may also lead to changes in the planned role which might involve working on other wards and working out of hours.
The post holder will have the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics and undertake agreed audit and quality improvement activities. There will also be opportunities to take part in teaching and supervision of FY1s, medical students and other health professionals.
