A leading healthcare trust in Harrow seeks a candidate for a dermatology role focused on inpatient and outpatient services. Responsibilities include supervising clinics and minor procedures. The ideal applicant should hold MRCP and have previous dermatology experience. The role offers opportunities for clinical research participation and CPD within a vibrant dermatology department.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient dermatology services in a vibrant Dermatology Department with exposure to a wide case mix including a large skin cancer portfolio.
The post is primarily based at Northwick Park hospital but there may be a requirement for cross site working. The clinical commitments consist of supervised outpatient clinics in general dermatology and minor operative procedures as well as inpatient ward work.
There is time for CPD and opportunity to present interesting cases at local meetings. The successful candidate would be expected to be actively involved in departmental audits and also have the opportunity to participate in clinical research as the department at Northwick Park undertakes clinical trials and portfolio studies.
There is special consideration given to training with journal clubs and complex case clinics providing ample opportunity to discuss cases from the clinics with multiple consultant presence.
The post holder preferably should hold MRCP and previous experience in dermatology is desirable.
The Dermatology service consists of three units, one at Northwick Park Hospital, one at Central Middlesex Hospital and the other at Ealing Hospital. The service has evolved this year with expansion of consultant, non-consultant and nursing staff to include a dedicated dermatology pharmacist.
The service has a large remit with a large number of 2 week wait referrals in addition to academic input with commitment to medical student teaching. We are working with the North West London sector Clinical Reference Group on the introduction of tele-dermatology.
Local skin cancer MDT’s are held fortnightly on a Monday lunchtime. The Trust also hosts the twice monthly specialist MDT for the north western part of the London Cancer Alliance.
