Job description

We are seeking a Junior Clinical Fellow on a 12-month fixed-term contract to support the trauma and orthopaedic service and develop surgical and diagnostic skills, with the aim of advancing a career in trauma and orthopaedics.

The role involves supporting FY1 and FY2 tiers and participating in a Trauma and Orthopaedic on-call rota during core hours only; out-of-hours on-call is not required. The post holder will also undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and engage in audit and clinical governance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide trauma and orthopaedic services in collaboration with consultants and senior colleagues.
  2. Participate in medical audit and research activities as appropriate.
  3. Ensure compliance with clinical governance requirements.
  4. Maintain adequate contact arrangements for hospital staff involved in patient care.
  5. Supervise and manage junior medical staff professionally.
  6. Contribute to teaching, examinations, and accreditation duties for junior staff.
  7. Optimize departmental staffing and resource utilization for maximum efficiency.
  8. Follow the Trust’s policies and procedures, including staff management and financial instructions.
