We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Emergency Department as a Junior Clinical Fellow.
Your role will be to assist in the provision of an effective emergency medicine service for the people of Mid Essex in collaboration with your colleagues, providing emergency treatment to patients attending the Emergency Medicine Department and liaising with specialties and to assist and guide junior doctors in emergency medicine.
You will liaise with shop floor/on call consultant for clinical and administrative and the sister/nurse in charge and nursing staff and to organise the smooth running of the department with attention to floor management in line with national targets and take a lead in ensuring the ED 4-hour target is achieved without compromising good quality of patient care.
Main duties of the jobAs part of the Emergency Medicine service, you will be providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to all patients attending the emergency assessment area comprising of the minor injuries, minor illnesses, ambulatory majors, majors, paediatric and resuscitation areas which are all part of the Emergency Village, comprising of a medical and surgical short stay ward and a medical and surgical Same Day Emergency Care service.
Your patients are to be given a graduated model of care and are moved through the assessment areas according to their dependency needs. ENPs work in the stand-alone urgent treatment centre alongside a co-located General Practitioner as well as Emergency Department clinicians.
You will not be expected to lead the department unsupervised at any time.

Job responsibilitiesThe purpose of the Clinical Fellow posts in Emergency Medicine is to assist in the development of an improved specialist emergency service to the people of mid Essex, within the context of increasing emergency workload and changing professional roles.
Your appointment will enable the Department to increase the level of senior support available to ENPs and junior doctors throughout the whole 24-hour period and at weekends.
Person SpecificationQualificationsEssentialDesirable- Higher qualification. ATLS, APLS, ALS Certification
EligibilityEssential- Demonstrable post registration experience of which 1 year experience in UK Accident & Emergency Services
- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards
Desirable- Broad experience in hospital specialties relevant to A&E
