Junior Clinical Engineer - EBME

We are recruiting for a Junior Clinical Engineer who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Junior Clinical Engineer will be responsible for the lifecycle management of medical equipment within the EBME Equipment Library, ensuring all devices are maintained, calibrated, and compliant with safety standards. Additionally, the engineer will assist with other clinical engineering tasks and projects as needed to support the EBME Services.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide clinical technical services including preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection, and repair for a variety of medical equipment.

You will liaise effectively with clinical users to clearly understand equipment issues, assess the severity and potential impact, and prioritize responses based on urgency.

You will also perform fault diagnosis using appropriate fault-finding techniques; report any novel or unusual faults to the Team Lead. Exercise sound judgment to identify root causes of equipment malfunctions.

The post holder will also repair equipment faults, conducting repairs down to the component level as needed.

Additionally, you will be able to verify that equipment functions in accordance to the manufacturer's specifications.

Qualifications / Training
  • Degree or HNC in Clinical/ Electronics Engineering
Previous Experience
  • Minimum of 1 years' engineering experience working in a medical devices environment.
Skills
  • Technical proficiency in medical device maintenance, repair, calibration, and safety testing
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clinical staff, suppliers, and team members.
  • Organizational skills for managing equipment records, inventory, and maintenance schedules.

Knowledge
  • Medical Equipment Technology: Understanding of the principles, operation, and components of a wide range of medical devices and equipment.

  • Electrical Safety: Awareness of electrical and functional safety testing protocols for medical devices.
  • Regulatory Standards: Familiarity with UK healthcare regulations and standards including HTM 06-01, MHRA medical device alerts, IEC 62353 series, and other relevant safety guidelines.
