Job summary

Lewisham And Greenwich NHS Trust is offering a 12-month Junior Clinical Fellow (Education Fellow) in Emergency Medicine at University Hospital Lewisham. The post blends hands-on EM with protected time to develop your educational portfolio and work toward a PGCert in Medical Education.

You will gain clinical experience while teaching King’s College London medical students and developing leadership in medical education within a dynamic ED team.

Qualifications

• Full registration with UK General Medical Council (GMC).
• Current provider status in at least one advanced life support course (ATLS/ALS).
• Self-roster rota experience and instructor status in ATLS/ALS.
• Experience teaching Medical students and ongoing CPD.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency care in a busy consultant-led ED.
• Spend 70% in clinical practice and 30% on educational activities.

This unique 12-month post combines hands‑on Emergency Medicine with dedicated protected time to develop your educational skills, making it an ideal role for clinicians with an interest in teaching and medical education. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Full registration with UK General Medical Council
• Current provider status in at least one of the following advanced life support courses ATLS or ALS or other recognised equivalent course
• Working on a self‑roster rota
• Instructor status in ATLS or ALS
• Participation in formal teaching of Medical students
• Current provider status in 1 or more advanced life support courses ATLS or ALS

Clinical Experience

Essential

• Completed at least three years full time postgraduate training (or its equivalent)
• Shall have at least 18 months, full time (or its equivalent) experience of working in a Consultant led ED or have demonstrable, equivalent experience and competencies
• Demonstrates developing an area of interest in Medical Education
• Demonstates good leadership and interpersonal skills especially releated to medical students

Clinical Audit

Essential

• Understanding and participation in medical audit.
• Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
• Should have evidence of current ongoing CPD and annual appraisal

Teaching Experience

Essential

• Experience of undergraduate teaching
• Formal training teaching methods or simulation debrief
