Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Junior Charge ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse to join the cardiac and thoracic surgery team. The successful candidate will possess a Registered ODP or Nurse qualification and have experience in a challenging operating theatre environment. Junior Charge ODP / Anaesthetic Nurse

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Junior Charge ODP/Nurse to join our busy Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Theatres at Castle Hill Hospital.

The successful candidate will be a Registered ODP or Anaesthetic Nurse, or a Registered Nurse who is willing and keen to do the Anaesthetic Nurse training.

We are a happy team working over 3 operating theatres and cover a wide range of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic to learn, dedicated, motivated and possess high standards of care with a desire to advance in their professional career, build upon and improve clinical and theatre management and leadership skills.

A flexible attitude to work is required together with an excellent level of communication and sense of humour is essential!

Main duties of the job
  • The post holder will work closely with the Charge ODP and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of clinical practice and staff development as part of the theatre team.
  • As a member of the Cardiac and Thoracic team you will be a competent anaesthetic practitioner and/or scrub practitioner following all checks and procedures as laid down in National / Theatre Policy.
  • To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all staff by acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.
  • To take charge of the operating theatre department in absence of Band 7.
  • The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
  • To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified as appropriate to knowledge and training
