Responsibilities

As a Junior Buyer - you will be reporting as part of a wider procurement group into the Commercial & Procurement Director, you will be a self-starter and able to work autonomously. The procurement group manages North’s relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors, supporting North’s wider business. As a member of the team this is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to the complete procurement and contract lifecycle and multiple categories of spend. You will be encouraged and expected to work with autonomy, use initiative and at pace with a drive to "get things done" with support from the senior procurement members. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to commence their procurement career or develop from early experience and exposure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Place orders, ensuring best price and obtain order acknowledgements to ensure accuracy of order and invoicing.
  • Liaise with suppliers to correct any mistakes on purchase orders or faulty goods.
  • Keep North Project Managers up to date with delivery dates and any delays.
  • Ensure key systems are up to date and all processes are adhered to.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels in the business, ensuring proper engagement in procurement projects.
  • Support contract reviews and supplier development activities with colleagues in the procurement team.
  • Prepare reports and analysis of procurement activities, to help ensure quality decision making and wider business success.
  • Adhere to compliance requirements for Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Information Security and Data Protection relevant to your job, function and location.
Qualifications

For development purposes the following knowledge, skills and experience are required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Technical experience or qualification in engineering and/or business would be an advantage, but not essential.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Good communication skills – in person, by telephone and email.
    • Team player with continuous improvement focus.
    • Ability to self-start and support the delivery of projects independently, while effectively managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent time management skills.
    • Good level of IT skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint)
