Job Overview:
F. Hinds is one of Britain's largest family-owned jewellers with over 100 stores nationwide, delivering excellent customer service since 1856. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join our Buying team, supporting the sourcing and selection of branded jewellery and gift ranges. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for product, a commercial mindset, and a keen interest in the jewellery and gifting market. You will assist in delivering a compelling product range that meets customer needs and drives commercial success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Research and Range Development:
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends in the market and monitor competitor activity.
- Assist in the planning, sourcing, and selection of branded jewellery and gift ranges in line with company strategy.
- Stock Management:
- Support in the analysis of sales data to optimise stock levels and product assortment.
- Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and accurate data entry. Ensuring that inventory levels meet demand without overstocking.
- Liaise with Logistics, Inventory and Account teams to ensure prompt processing of invoices, resolution of any quality control issues and final processing through the system.
- Work closely with Marketing, Visual Merchandising and E-Commerce teams to ensure products are optimally presented and promoted.
- Supplier Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.
- Support negotiations on pricing, margins, lead times, and terms.
- Attend trade shows and supplier meetings to discover new products and build networks.
- Store Visits:
- Participate in regular store visits to support sales staff and stock inventory requirements.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a buying or merchandising role, ideally in fashion, jewellery, or gifting.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel / Word.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with data and generating insights from reports.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong commercial awareness and an eye for product and trends.
