Job summary

DUSK is seeking a Junior Buyer to join its Leeds Buying team. The role focuses on sourcing a range, delivering KPIs, and trading weekly using sales data.

You will manage the day-to-day running of your product area, react to competitor activity, and collaborate across Sourcing, Marketing, Ecommerce and Finance to drive growth. You will work in a fast‑growing e‑commerce home & lifestyle brand with a strong emphasis on supplier relationships and data‑driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Commercial understanding with budgeting ownership.
• Passion for product and ability to develop new products, with understanding of specs impact on quality, lead times and cost.
• Customer‑focussed with genuine interest in the customer journey.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills; adapt style as needed.
• Able to present in trade and sign-off meetings.
• At least one year of experience as Assistant Buyer or Junior Buyer.
• Familiar with incoterms and WGSN.

Responsibilities

• Source and select a range, ensuring KPIs like sales budget and margin are delivered.
• Trade weekly using reports including WSSI to guide category trading.
• Manage day-to-day running of product area and implement trade initiatives.
• React to competitor activity, price changes, and new product opportunities.
• Lead department strategy using data, market data, SWOT analysis and trends.
• Collaborate with Sourcing, Marketing, Ecommerce, and other functions.
• Lead supplier relationships and conduct supplier SWOT analyses.
• Manage department Critical Path from development to launch and mitigate supply risks.
• Oversee OTB with merchandiser and sign-off with Senior Management for in-season performance.
• Attend supplier meetings and trade shows as required.
• Develop direct reports through 1-1s and performance reviews.

Job description

We have an opportunity to join our team as Junior Buyer working in Leeds as part of our Buying team.

Salary: Competitive Salary + excellent benefits package

Role Responsibilities

• Accountable for sourcing and selecting a range, ensuring all KPIs are delivered including sales budget, margin and stock cover.
• Has a strong understanding of all daily and weekly sales reports - including WSSI - and able to trade their category based on findings presented in weekly trade meetings.
• Manages the day-to-day running of their product area, including actioning trade initiatives, minimising risk to the category whilst capitalising as quickly as possible on opportunities to overachieve.
• Responsible for reacting to competitor activity on the back of competitor shops and benchmarking exercises presented by the team, quickly responding to price changes and recognising new product opportunities.
• Works with Merchandising & Buying to lead and deliver a department strategy in line with sales data, market data, SWOT analysis, seasonal trends and lessons learnt, with a focus on the DUSK customer.
• Maintains and grows relationships with wider business functions including Sourcing, Marketing, Ecommerce, Creative, QC, Warehouse, Logistics, Finance and any other department where necessary.
• Leads supplier relationships and supplier SWOT analysis with a focus on capacity, quality, MOQs, ROS, pricing and lead times.
• Accountable for the department Critical Path, ensuring it is managed across the supply base from product development to product launch. Highlights and mitigates risk to supply and delivery.
• Manages OTB along with the merchandiser – signing off product with Senior Management as required, ensuring capitalisation of strong performing products in season and increasing speed to market for new product opportunities.
• Attends regular supplier meetings and overseas trips/ trade shows as required and works with the Sourcing team to highlight gaps in the supply base.
• Accountable for managing development of direct report(s) through 1-1’s and performance reviews.

About You

• Commercial understanding and some experience in managing departmental budgets, along with ownership for buying at least one range.
• Passion for product and being able to develop new products regularly, with an understanding of how specifications can impact quality, lead times and cost prices.
• Customer-focussed, with a genuine interest in the customer journey and able to put forward ideas on how to improve this.
• Strong communication skills and negotiation skills, and able to adapt their style of communication and/or negotiation, depending on the situation.
• Able to confidently present in trade and sign‑off meetings, in a clear and engaging way.
• At least one years’ experience as an Assistant Buyer or Junior Buyer
• Familiar with industry terms and systems (incoterms, WGSN)
