Job description

We’re partnered exclusively with a globally recognised multi-manager hedge fund to identify a Junior Business Data Analyst to join their Investment Strategy & Operations Team in London.

This is a newly created role, offering exceptional front-to-back exposure within one of the fund’s most strategically important business units. You'll work directly with the Strategy COO, Deputy COO, and Business Analyst, supporting the continued expansion of the investment platform through smart data usage, automation, and decision-support tooling.

Unlike many data roles, this opportunity offers high visibility and cross-functional interaction — working alongside Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Quants, Risk, and Technology. It’s ideal for someone who thrives on being close to the investment engine while improving operational efficiency through clean, intelligent systems.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the COO team with data cleanup, reporting automation, and dashboard creation
  • Working across teams to improve the firm’s internal tooling and reporting infrastructure
  • Building decision-support tools using Python, SQL, Power BI, and REST APIs
  • Partnering with technology teams to define and manage deliverables and track platform adoption
  • Running regular and ad hoc reporting for Portfolio Managers, investment teams, and senior leadership
  • Participating in cross-team projects involving PM onboarding, investment strategy support, and process streamlining

What They’re Looking For:

  • 1–4 years’ experience in a data-focused role within a hedge fund, asset manager, investment bank, or high-calibre tech/analytics setting
  • Strong programming experience in Python and SQL (experience building tooling, not just querying)
  • Understanding of business reporting via Power BI or similar tools
  • Excellent academic background in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar technical/quantitative field
  • A “self-starter” mentality – someone who is proactive, motivated, and eager to learn the broader business
  • Interest in working cross-functionally – this is not a purely back-office data seat

Nice to Have (Not Required):

  • Exposure to macro/rates products
  • Experience using or building against REST APIs
  • Familiarity with investment data, performance metrics, or PM workflow tooling
