Job Description

Title Junior Broker

Location London

Job Purpose

To support the general administration of brokers, and where required, present, broke and negotiate on behalf of the Amwins Global Risks TREATY division to the Lloyd’s, London and Global Re/Insurance markets. To provide an efficient, reliable and effective service to the divisions brokers and external clients and underwriters.

Responsibilities

  • Client Liaison mainly on a reinsurance basis, either by telephone, email or in person as required.
  • To assist in negotiating the best possible terms and conditions for the division’s clients, using appropriate knowledge, expertise and market presence for desired cover.
  • Placing experience to include e-placing as necessary
  • Ensure that all new and renewal business, mid-term amendments and general enquiries are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide assistance to all members of the division as and when required and directed, including managing and supporting meetings for conferences and other business trip arrangements.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the Amwins Global Risks group network, new and renewal clients, Underwriters and Brokers.
  • Liaise with other members of the division as required to assess client requirements and broking strategy on any particular risk.
  • On occasion, support the production of slips and endorsements for delivery to the market, using the group software Total Objects and in co-ordination with the technical team.
  • To undertake all aspects of the division’s administrative broking roles and assist in the support of the production of placement information / documentation, record keeping and file production, when required
  • Preparation of technical handover documents when required, along with any supporting documentation, in order to present to the Cheltenham Office for processing and accounting.
  • Accurate and punctual record keeping, compiling of correspondence and file production / maintenance.
  • All company and compliance procedures, rules and regulations to be followed and adhered to.

Personal Attributes

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience and understanding of the Insurance/Reinsurance Market.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good technical re/insurance knowledge.
  • Technical knowledge of policy forms / slips and endorsements.
  • Excellent team player and able to work alone.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel (essential), Pivot Tables, Microsoft Office and PowerPoint packages.
  • Cat Modelling knowledge is desirable.
  • Cert CII qualified or studying towards.
  • Language skills are desirable, but not essential.
  • Support with managing / arranging conference meeting schedules for team.
  • Company and market knowledge Level 2
  • Understanding the customer Level 2
  • Communicating and influencing skills Level 2
  • Negotiation and persuasion skills Level 2
  • Compliance and operational risk knowledge Level 2
  • Negotiation and placement of risks Level 2
