Commercial Banking UK is a unit within BBVA focused on developing business relationships with medium and large corporates based in the UK, Ireland, and Nordic geographies. Our mission is to deepen commercial ties and drive cross-border business opportunities across BBVA’s global footprint. We strive to be the global banking partner of choice for corporate groups operating in our core markets, offering a comprehensive suite of services with a coordinated, international approach.

As a Junior Relationship Manager, you will join the Commercial Banking team in the UK to manage relationships with corporate clients, subsidiaries of multinational companies, and legacy companies. You will also provide support to transactional activity, business execution, and day-to-day activities in the branch.

About position

This role blends relationship management, credit analysis, and cross-border coordination, contributing to both local and international client growth, and gaining exposure to clients, products, and mentorship.

Examples of Day-to-Day Tasks

  • Support global bankers in relationship management, deal origination, and execution, generating ideas, proposing product solutions and pricing.
  • Prepare client-facing presentations and proposals.
  • Develop credit analysis expertise and assist in due diligence processes. Reviews and analyses financial statements, credit data company and guidance.
  • Gain familiarity with legal and documentation aspects of financial instruments.
  • Participate in live transactions and client interactions to build experience and networks.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and support product diversification.
  • Coordinate cross-border initiatives across BBVA geographies.
  • Draft internal strategy memos and relationship updates.
  • Identifies new client prospects.
  • Oversee operational processes including KYC, onboarding, and documentation review.
  • Execute customer daily requests and support business execution.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Fluent in English (C1 level required); Spanish proficiency (B2 level) is a strong plus. Another language is also valuable.
  • Solid academic background with a keen interest in financial services and macroeconomics.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, analytical, and communication abilities.
  • High level of energy, integrity, and alignment with BBVA’s values.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and reliable, with the ability to multitask and adapt quickly to change.
