Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

A Junior Baker is someone who has a passion for baking (whether they have professional experience or not), who wants to develop their skills further and learn from the some of the industry's finest. They will gradually learn to master each of the 4 main sections of the Bakery operation (mixing, shaping, laminating, baking) so that they can progress to becoming a fully-skilled and independent Artisan Baker.

SALARY: £12.70 per hour
HOURS: Full time | 40 Hours | 5x 8 Hour shifts across Monday - Sunday | 5pm - 1am

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute all products as per company specifications.
  • Execute all food preparation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Adhere to the standards set out by the Soil Association.
  • Display a strong eye for detail to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Ensure that all ingredients are prepared, weighed and measured ready for production.
  • Carry out all baking duties with care and diligence to guarantee the production of a consistently high standard of product, along with minimal levels of wastage.
  • Achieve competence in all areas of the Bakery, including the accurate interpretation of daily orders/recipes, distributing/packing finished products, weighing ingredients, mixing, shaping doughs by hand, and baking the breads unsupervised.
  • Ensure that cleaning rotas are consistently adhered to.
  • Work safely and efficiently to ensure that all daily orders are completed at the required fulfilment rate (98%+).
  • Comply with the production unit’s internal audit requirements.
  • Aid the Bakery Manager in the fulfilment of the Bakery’s annual financial/budgetary targets.
  • Participate in the effective communication amongst the team regarding any changes to recipes, procedures and/or operational needs, and amongst the company and other customers regarding any quality issues/shortages in the required timescale.
  • Collaborate effectively with Baker and Junior Baker colleagues, as well as complying with the authority and direction of the Assistant Bakery Manager and Bakery Manager.
