Our approach is refreshing and provides value for money engineering design. We give clients what they need and not what they don't.

We deliver specialist Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) engineering and design services across all stages of project development—from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) through to detailed design, commissioning support, and functional safety lifecycle activities. Our capabilities include the design and specification of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control solutions, supported by comprehensive CAD services such as electrical schematics and control system layouts. We work on both greenfield developments and brownfield modifications across a variety of industries, ensuring robust, safe, and efficient EC&I solutions tailored to each project.

Role Description

Integro Design Engineering Associates (IDEA) Ltd. is seeking a Junior or Associate level EC&I Engineer to join our growing design consultancy team, based primarily in our Glasgow office. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting senior engineers while developing your technical and project delivery skills. We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in engineering principles, a desire to learn, and the right attitude to grow within our dynamic consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design and specification of electrical, control and instrumentation systems, including preparation of drawings and documentation such as single line diagrams, loop drawings, I/O schedules, instrument lists, and cable schedules.
  • Contribute to the selection and specification of control system components including PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and control valves.
  • Support the development of technical documentation, reports, and standards under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal disciplines to coordinate design and integration of EC&I systems.
  • Participate in technical reviews, site surveys, and occasionally support commissioning activities.
  • Maintain accurate project records and ensure compliance with internal processes and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and vendors.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline (minimum BEng; MEng/MSc preferred).
  • Working towards, or interested in working towards, professional registration (IEng or CEng) with a relevant institution such as the IET or InstMC.
  • Relevant industry experience in an EC&I engineering role, such as through previous employment, graduate schemes, or extended industrial placements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative, learn quickly, and adapt to new challenges.
  • A valid UK driving licence (or working towards) and flexibility for occasional travel within the UK and abroad.
  • Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
