Due to continued growth we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Application Packaging Engineer to join our expanding team. The successful candidate will play a key role in packaging, testing, and deploying software applications across our clients' IT environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to launch their career in application packaging and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Successful Candidates will either hold or be eligible for Security Clearance. Criteria includes British Citizenship with no other citizenships and you have lived in the UK for the last 5 years minimum.
This role will be site based in Erskine, Scotland .
Key Responsibilities:
Package, customise, and test software applications for deployment using industry-standard packaging tools (e.g., Microsoft App-V, MSIs)
Collaborate with application owners, developers, and project managers to gather requirements and ensure successful application packaging and deployment
Perform quality assurance testing to validate application packages and ensure compatibility, functionality, and performance in various IT environments
Troubleshoot and resolve packaging-related issues, including application conflicts, dependencies, and installation failures
Document packaging processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference
Assist in the creation and maintenance of software deployment scripts and automation workflows
Stay current with emerging technologies, best practices, and industry standards in application packaging and deployment
Provide support and assistance to senior members of the team as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field experience
Basic understanding of Windows Operating Systems and Active Directory
Familiarity with deployment technology concepts and components
Basic understanding of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript)
Familiarity with application packaging concepts and tools (e.g., MSI packaging, App-V sequencing, etc)
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with team lead to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in MECM deployment and administration
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) are a plus
