Potter Clarkson LLP is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join our Business Services team in the UK. You’ll develop with .NET/C#, Angular, TypeScript/JavaScript, and Azure, in an Agile environment, delivering features and maintaining legacy systems with a focus on quality and documentation.

Working in a hybrid model, you’ll contribute to API-first solutions, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud services, while collaborating with stakeholders and peers to continually improve our software and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience with .NET, Angular, and Azure in a commercial environment.

Responsibilities

  • 1st Line support for application updates and bugs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications using .NET (C#), Angular, TypeScript/JavaScript, and CSS
  • Work with SQL Server databases and develop API-first solutions using REST and OpenAPI/Swagger
  • Contribute to cloud-based solutions in Azure, utilizing resources such as App Services, Functions, Event Grid, Logic Apps, and Cosmos DB
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Conduct code reviews and peer programming sessions
  • Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure software quality and reliability
  • Analyse and refine requirements, asking clarifying questions and providing constructive feedback
  • Balance multiple priorities, including legacy system maintenance and new product development

Skills

The Junior Software Developer role within our Business Services department is integral to both maintaining our existing systems and contributing to the development of new products. This position involves working primarily with .NET technologies, Angular web development framework, and Azure cloud services. The developer operates in an Agile environment, collaborating closely with team members and stakeholders across the organisation.


This position requires a balance of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills. The individual should be passionate about technology and driven to do things better, with a proactive approach to their work. They will be expected to manage multiple priorities, including support of legacy systems and development of new features, while maintaining a high standard of code quality and documentation. They play a key role in our continuous improvement efforts, both in terms of our technical solutions and our development processes and tools.


Key Responsibilities


  • 1st Line support for application updates and bugs.

Essential


  • Proficiency in .NET and C#

  • Experience with Angular, TypeScript, and JavaScript

  • Proficiency in T-SQL

  • Solid understanding of CSS and web development principles

  • Experience with SQL Server and database design

  • Familiarity with API-first development, OpenAPI/Swagger, and REST principles

  • Experience working in a cloud-first environment, particularly with Azure services

  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps and DevOps principles

  • Proficiency with Git and modern version control practices

  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum and/or Kanban)


Desirable


  • Experience with building AI applications

  • Experience with Azure ARM Templates and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Interest in and experience with AI, Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI-based development tooling.

  • Familiarity with additional Azure services and resources and additional approaches and tools e.g. Azure SQL

  • Knowledge of Elastic Search and related technologies

  • Experience with automated testing tools and approaches.

  • Experience with finance systems and integrations.

  • Familiarity with legal sector (or similar).

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Demonstrated experience with the technologies and methodologies listed in the Skills section
