Sharp Consultancy, on behalf of a well-established wholesale business based in Barnsley, is hiring a Junior Accounts Assistant to join its friendly finance team. The role offers hands-on training and progression opportunities.

I'm recruiting on behalf of a well-established wholesale business based in Barnsley that is looking to appoint a Junior Accounts Assistant to join its friendly and supportive finance team.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with around 12 months of accounts experience who is looking to take the next step in their career. If you're eager to learn, develop your technical skills and gain broader exposure within a finance function, this role offers the perfect environment to do just that.

The Role

Working as part of a collaborative finance team, you’ll be involved in a variety of day‑to‑day accounting tasks, including:

• Processing purchase and sales invoices

• Bank reconciliations

• Assisting with payment runs

• Supporting credit control activities

• Maintaining accurate financial records

• Assisting with month‑end processes, including accruals, prepayments and journal entries

• General finance administration

• Providing support across the wider finance function as your skills develop

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has around one year's experience in an accounts or finance role

• Is keen to learn and build a long‑term career within finance

• Has good attention to detail and strong organisational skills

• Is confident using Microsoft Excel (V‑Lookups, Pivot Tables)

• Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team
