Job summary

Impression recruitment in Leeds is seeking a Junior Accountant to join an established independent accountancy practice. The role offers exposure to accounts prep, VAT, bookkeeping and general accounting services across a varied client base.

You will work with experienced accountants and partners, gaining autonomy while receiving support to manage your workload and build client relationships. The firm provides clear progression and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• Experience preparing accounts for a varied client base in practice.
• Good understanding of general accounting principles.
• Experience using SAGE, Xero and IRIS accounting software.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accounts for a varied portfolio of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Assist with management accounts and year end accounts preparation.
• Complete VAT returns and ensure submissions are timely and accurate.
• Carry out bookkeeping duties and maintain accurate financial records.
• Assist with tax compliance work and gathering client information.
