Job summary

The Very Group is recruiting to support the Finance Manager with accuracy of accounting entries and balance sheet integrity. You will handle month-end journals, reconciliations, and group consolidations from multiple subsidiaries.

The role requires solid accounting skills, advanced Excel, and good communication with finance and non-finance teams. A hybrid working model and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Studying towards AAT or recently qualified.
  • Strong accounting skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with formulas, pivot tables, lookups.
  • Experience with Oracle is beneficial.
  • Strong communication, and ability to work with auditors.

Responsibilities

  • Posting month-end journals and reconciling balance sheet items.
  • ARCS superuser: load balances monthly and coordinate with Tech and EPM.
  • Produce month-end management accounts for subsidiaries.
  • Produce the monthly Group consolidation.
  • Produce balance sheet packs and investigate major movements.
  • Assist in annual statutory accounts and external reporting such as Bank Reports.
  • Produce audit schedules and respond to auditor queries.
  • Handle ad hoc requests from team and wider business.

About the role

This role's purpose is to assist the Finance Manager in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of accounting entries impacting the Group Balance Sheet and to ensure the integrity of accounting records.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Posting of month-end accounting journals and performing key balance sheet reconciliations, notably in relation to intercompany balances, FX and unactioned demand.
  • ARCS superuser with responsibility for loading balances each month and liaising with Tech and EPM team to set up new reconciliations/re-allocate reconciliations.
  • Production of month end management accounts for some subsidiary companies
  • Producing the monthly Group Consolidation
  • Exceptional costs analysis
  • Production of monthly balance sheet pack, with investigation of significant movements
  • Assisting the Finance Manager in the of production of annual statutory accounts for and other periodic external reporting, such as Bank Reports.
  • Production of key audit schedules and answering auditor queries.
  • Other ad hoc requests from the team and wider business.
About you
  • Studying towards AAT or recently qualified.
  • Strong accounting skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to effectively utilise formulas, pivot tables, lookups, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of other Microsoft packages such as Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Oracle would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills for both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Ability to work with external auditors and advisors, understanding their needs and requests and providing clear, concise and accurate information.
  • Good time management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and reliably.
  • Enthusiastic attitude with a desire to improve and ability to use own initiative.
