Recently awarded the ‘most improved force in the country’ following its 2023 police effectiveness, efficiency, and legitimacy (PEEL) inspection, Greater Manchester Police is committed to excellence in policing, protecting the public, supporting victims, and reflecting community diversity.

The Specialist Operations Branch, led by Chief Superintendent Mark Dexter, includes around 1,000 officers and staff. It encompasses sections such as Planning, Business Continuity, and Roads Policing, overseen by Superintendent Gareth Parkin.

The Roads Policing section includes units like the Central Ticket Office (CTO), Safer Roads Policing, Motorway Units, Serious Collision Investigation Unit, Operation Wolverine, Traffic Police, Community Support Officers, and Traffic Collision Units.

The Central Ticket Office handles the administration of Road Safety Camera offences, penalties, and Traffic Offence Reports. It manages prosecutions and driver education schemes, aiming to reduce road casualties.
