A mechanical engineering company is seeking a Junior Design Engineer to design mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software. Candidates should have a degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, along with 2–3 years of relevant experience. The Junior Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Engineer would suit someone with a Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering and 2–3 years’ experience in 3D CAD, mechanical design, rotating equipment, mechanical assemblies, or similar.
You’ll support the design of mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD, produce 2D drawings and BOMs, and assist with product development and project-based design work. The role will include design for manufacture, performance calculations, and technical documentation.
Package:
Up to £35,000 depending on experience
25 days holiday plus bank holidays

Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 1pm

Key Responsibilities:
Design mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD (NX, Inventor or AutoCAD)
Produce 2D drawings and Bills of Materials for manufacturing
Support calculations and assist with FEA and FMEA analysis
Assist in the development of new and existing products
Create technical documentation, manuals and specifications
Work to ISO 9001 and design for manufacture standards
Office based near Bedford
Requirements:
Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similar
2–3 years’ experience as a Junior Design Engineer / CAD Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer or similar
3D CAD experience – NX, Inventor or AutoCAD
Knowledge of rotating equipment, mechanical assemblies or engineered components preferred
Understanding of FEA and DFM principles beneficial
Commutable to the office near Bedford
