Global Journalism is a key team within BBC World Service Languages. It provides high quality journalism and production, making text, video and social content that drives reach and engages audiences worldwide. Our core mission is to offer content to language services that enables them to cover and explain the world to their audiences, focusing on content that will grow those audiences.
The Global Science and Climate team sits within our department and provides text and short video content to World Service language services and BBC News. The aim of the team is to grow audiences by offering a regular stream of SEO optimised and audience informed text and video on the Global Science and Climate brief.
We are looking a creative Journalist with a rich background in digital text and video production and a keen eye for story angles which will bring new audiences to BBC World Service language digital and social platforms. We are seeking motivated Journalist who is skilled at writing explanatory text stories with complementary video scripts, stays on top of social media video trends, has a sharp eye for spotting viral stories, and brings accomplished text and video storytelling skills. This role requires understanding of the BBC’s 41 language services, strong text skills and experience in using both Optimo and FCP or other video editing software. Candidates should have some experience using social media listening and monitoring tools to identify emerging trends, and pitch story ideas.
