The BBC World Service is one of the world’s most respected and trusted international broadcasters, reaching over 320 million people weekly across TV, radio, and digital platforms. BBC Brasil is a key part of this network, offering world-class journalism to Portuguese-speaking audiences in Brazil and beyond.
BBC Brasil produces high-quality, multimedia content — from compelling text articles to dynamic video and audio — distributed via its digital platforms and trusted media partners. With an audience of around 20 million monthly users, we play a vital role in shaping informed global conversation in Portuguese.
We are now looking for a bilingual Journalist to join our team — someone with a strong editorial voice, excellent journalistic judgment, and a proven track record in creating high-impact, original content across platforms.
As a Journalist at BBC Brasil, you’ll contribute directly to the creation and delivery of news and current affairs content, with a particular focus on impactful storytelling and multimedia journalism.
Key responsibilities will include:
Originate, research, write, assemble, and deliver engaging stories across platforms — including text, video, and audio — to the highest journalistic standards.
Exercise editorial judgment to produce impartial, accurate, and balanced journalism, often under pressure and tight deadlines.
Lead on special projects or investigations and help shape editorial direction within the team.
Occasionally supervise and sub-edit content from colleagues and freelancers, ensuring linguistic, factual, and stylistic accuracy.
Liaise with other BBC teams to ensure efficiency, collaboration, and the sharing of output and ideas.
Create platform-specific content and tailor treatments to different audiences, from in-depth explainers to shareable videos.
Occasionally present content live or recorded on video, audio, or digital platforms.
Help guide production planning and resource allocation, contributing to team development and newsroom efficiency.
Promote and uphold BBC editorial values, policies, and diversity standards at all times.
We’re looking for someone who combines creative flair with editorial rigour. You should be passionate about storytelling, confident working across formats, and capable of producing original journalism that resonates with audiences in Brazil and beyond.
