A political campaign organization seeks a Communications Director to lead their media efforts and manage communications staff. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in electoral politics and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include managing press relations, crafting communications material, and training candidates for media interaction. This role is essential for shaping the campaign's public image and executing its media strategy.
Primary Responsibilities
Developing earned media plan/calendar and implementing campaign communications strategy
Responding to incoming media requests and managing proactive pitching
Building and maintaining relationships with reporters across Maine and around the country
Drafting and editing written communication materials, including social media content
Crafting remarks and guidance for political events
Providing media training and interview prep for candidate
Hiring and overseeing team of communications staff
Providing copy editing, approval and other support as needed for other campaign departments
Job Requirements
A track record of working directly with local and national reporters
On-the-record experience as a spokesperson
Multiple cycles of experience working in electoral politics/on campaigns
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
An ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively and get results in a fast-paced environment
Strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork
Experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
