Job summary

E.ON UK is expanding its street lighting and highway electrical network operations and seeks a Jointers Mate to join the Burton team. You will assist in jointing, cabling, and connections on distribution networks, working across sites and contributing to safe, compliant installations.

Qualifications

• Holding authorisation to work on distribution networks.
• Experience with safe use of tools, equipment and vehicles for the role.
• Ability to assess health, safety and environmental risks on site.
• Commitment to work in line with HSE and company procedures.
• Ownership of personal safety and that of nearby workers.
• Correct selection and use of PPE and equipment per risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all Low Voltage service connections onto distribution networks.
• Prepare cables for jointing and manage excavation/reinstatement of holes.
• Operate company vehicles and maintain safety standards on site.
• Conduct risk assessments and follow company policies and procedures.
• Work autonomously or with a team; supervise juniors as required.
• Deliver ICP connections and highways lighting projects within geographic area.

The installation and wiring of street lighting and highway electrical street furniture and act as a jointers mate in service cable transfers and service cable mains connections to DNO/IDNO networks.

• Holding a relevant authorisation to work on distribution networks
• The safe use and operation of tools, equipment and vehicles associated with the role
• To have an awareness of the working environment and surroundings and an understanding of the ability to carry out health, safety and environmental risk assessments
• Working in a safe manner and in accordance with the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and procedures
• Complying with operational working practices, method statements and associated risk assessments
• Taking full ownership for personal health and safety responsibilities and those working around youor affected by your operations
• Ensuring correct selection and use of company provided PPE and equipment as required by the relevant risk assessment and method statements relating to each work activity.

E.ON UK operates one of the largest Street Lighting Contracting businesses in the UK with a large presence in the East and West Midlands as well as the North West of England. We have four Street Lighting PFI's and work for most local authorities in the areas we operate in. We operate as an ICP and carry out jointing associated with the installation and connection of electrical networks for most of the housing developers in the UK. We have agreements to work on the DNO and IDNO networks in the UK and we are now looking at expanding and growing our Independent Connections Provider business.

To assist with this growth and to meet our current obligations we are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking Jointers Mate to join our team in Burton.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out all Low Voltage service connections onto three phase distribution networks.
• Prepare cables for jointing.
• Excavation and reinstatement of joint holes.
• Driving and operating general and specialist company vehicles appropriate to the role.
• Carry out risk assessments and work to company policies and procedures.
• Work on own initiative or as part of a team and supervise jointers mate.
• Maintain safe standards throughout the delivery of work
• Delivery of work to maintain productivity expectations.
• Contribute to deliver team objectives
• Delivery of ICP connections on electrical distribution networks.
• Delivery of Highways Lighting projects in and out of core regional geographic area.
