Job summary

E.ON UK’s Utility Solutions in Burton-on-Trent is recruiting 2 Jointers Mates on a permanent basis. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in electrical networks, working alongside experienced jointers to deliver safe, high‑quality connections across ICP projects and highways lighting.

The role involves preparing cables, carrying out low voltage service connections, excavation, driving company vehicles, and following safety policies.

Qualifications

• First Aid certification required or in place.
• NRSWA LA 01–08 qualifications needed.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
• Experience as a Jointers Mate in electrical networks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all Low Voltage service connections onto three phase distribution networks.
• Prepare cables for jointing.
• Excavation and reinstatement of joint holes.
• Drive and operate company vehicles relevant to the role.
• Carry out risk assessments and follow company policies.
• Work independently or as part of a team and supervise jointers mate.
• Maintain safe standards throughout delivery of work.
• Deliver ICP connections on electrical distribution networks.
• Deliver highways lighting projects within/beyond core geographic area.
• Deliver network connections projects within/beyond core geographic area.

Job description

We're looking for 2 Jointers Mates to join Utility Solutions based in Burton.

Location: Burton-On-Trent

E.ON UK operates one of the largest Street Lighting Contracting businesses in the UK with a large presence in the East and West Midlands as well as the North West of England. We have four Street Lighting PFI's and work for most local authorities in the areas we operate in. We operate as an ICP and carry out jointing associated with the installation and connection of electrical networks for most of the housing developers in the UK. We have agreements to work on the DNO and IDNO networks in the UK and we are now looking at expanding and growing our Independent Connections Provider business.

To assist with this growth and to meet our current obligations we are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking Jointers Mate to join our team in Burton.

This is a great opportunity to build your skills within the electrical industry, gain hands‑on experience working alongside experienced jointers, and play an important part in delivering safe, high‑quality electrical connections across a growing business.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out all Low Voltage service connections onto three phase distribution networks.
• Prepare cables for jointing.
• Excavation and reinstatement of joint holes.
• Driving and operating general and specialist company vehicles appropriate to the role.
• Carry out risk assessments and work to company policies and procedures.
• Work on own initiative or as part of a team and supervise jointers mate.
• Maintain safe standards throughout the delivery of work
• Delivery of work to maintain productivity expectations.
• Delivery of ICP connections on electrical distribution networks.
• Delivery of Highways Lighting projects in and out of core regional geographic area.
• Delivery of network connections projects in and out of core regional geographic area

What we need from you

• NRSWA - LA 01 to 08
• Current Driving Licence
