Job summary

E.ON UK in Northampton seeks a Jointers Mate to help deliver safe, high‑quality electrical connections as part of a growing ICP and street lighting business. You will gain hands‑on experience working with experienced jointers and play a vital role in delivering connections across various local authorities.

The role involves preparing cables, jointing, site excavation and reinstatement, risk assessments and working across multiple sites with a flexible approach.

Qualifications

• Must have First Aid qualification.
• NRSWA – LA 01 to 08 certification required.
• Current driving licence essential.
• Flexible to work across multiple sites and areas.
• Experience as Jointers Mate in electrical distribution is essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all Low Voltage service connections onto three phase distribution networks.
• Prepare cables for jointing.
• Excavation and reinstatement of joint holes.
• Drive and operate general and specialist company vehicles.
• Carry out risk assessments and follow company policies and procedures.
• Work on own initiative or as part of a team and supervise jointers mate.
• Maintain safe standards throughout the delivery of work.
• Delivery of ICP connections on electrical distribution networks.
• Delivery of Highway Lighting projects in and out of core regional geographic area.
• Delivery of network connections projects in and out of core regional geographic area.

E.ON UK operates one of the largest Street Lighting Contracting businesses in the UK with a large presence in the East and West Midlands as well as the North West of England. We have four Street Lighting PFI's and work for most local authorities in the areas we operate in. We operate as an ICP and carry out jointing associated with the installation and connection of electrical networks for most of the housing developers in the UK. We have agreements to work on the DNO and IDNO networks in the UK and we are now looking at expanding and growing our Independent Connections Provider business.

To assist with this growth and to meet our current obligations we are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking Jointers Mate to join our team in Northampton.

This is a great opportunity to build your skills within the electrical industry, gain hands‑on experience working alongside experienced jointers, and play an important part in delivering safe, high‑quality electrical connections across a growing business.

Key responsibilities
