Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team in the fight against serious and organised crime in the UK waste industry. As a Senior Environmental Crime Officer and Lead Responsible Officer, you will be responsible for disrupting and dismantling organised crime groups using a 4P approach. You will collaborate with subject matter specialists and partner agencies, chair multi-agency meetings, and drive disruption efforts.
This challenging and varied role involves conducting multi-agency operations, gathering evidence, undertaking overt and covert investigations, preparing court case files, and challenging permit applications. You will also deliver interventions to prevent, disrupt, and enforce against those involved in serious and organised crime.

This is a national role requiring regular pre-planned travel and occasional overnight stays. The main enforcement hub is in Birmingham, where you may need to attend for investigations or meetings.

Experience/Skills Required
Essential: Background in environmental regulation, enforcement, or investigations; experience working with police, local authorities, or government agencies; handling sensitive intelligence; knowledge of criminal investigation legislation; full UK driving license; vetting for SC Security Clearance and NPPV2.
Desirable: Experience in an intelligence-led environment, legal communication, and knowledge of legislation such as Environmental Permitting Regulations, Environment Act, Police and Criminal Evidence Act, etc.

Two posts are available. This hybrid role is based at your local Environment Agency office. All staff will undertake training and incident response duties.
