Job summary

Midlands Housing Regeneration (MHR) in Nottingham is seeking a full-time on-site Joiner to support refurbishment and regeneration projects, installing doors, windows, skirting boards, and timber components. You will measure, cut, assemble, and fit frameworks, and work with site managers and other trades, following plans and building regulations to ensure quality finishes.

Maintain a clean, safe work area, inspect completed work, and contribute to timely project completion.

Qualifications

• Strong carpentry and finish carpentry skills suitable for residential refurbishment or regeneration projects.
• Competent with hand tools and power tools and safety procedures.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions with attention to detail.
• NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent carpentry/joinery qualification.
• Familiarity with building regulations and site safety standards.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Joiner role based in Nottingham. The Joiner will work on refurbishment and regeneration projects, carrying out carpentry tasks such as installing doors, windows, skirting boards, and other internal and external timber components. Day-to-day duties include measuring and cutting materials, assembling and fitting frameworks, using hand and power tools safely, and ensuring finishes meet quality and safety standards. The Joiner will collaborate with site managers and other trades, follow project plans and building regulations, and maintain a clean, safe work area. The role also involves inspecting completed work, resolving minor issues on site, and contributing to timely project completion.

Qualifications

• Strong Carpentry and Finish Carpentry skills, with experience in residential refurbishment or regeneration projects.
• Competence in using Hand Tools and Power Tools safely and efficiently, with good awareness of relevant safety procedures.
• Ability to carry out Framing and structural joinery tasks, including accurate measuring, cutting, and installation.
• Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in carpentry or joinery (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Good understanding of building regulations, site safety standards, and quality workmanship requirements.
• Ability to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions, with strong attention to detail.
• Reliable, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a multi-trade team.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites within the Nottingham area and wider East Midlands, as required.
