Qualifications

  • Must have at least 5 years of construction experience.
  • Time served joiner with ability to create various types of windows and doors.
  • Must have valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake refurbishment and maintenance of residential properties and farmhouses.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Create cutting lists and interpret drawings.

Job Title: Workshop Joiner

Responsible to: Buildings Manager/Maintenance Manager/Project Manager

Location: Raby Estate - Shropshire

Hours: 39 hours per week as per contract

Salary: Competitive depending on experience

Introduction

The Raby Estate comprises substantial landholdings and trading operations in Co. Durham and Shropshire that are owned by Lord Barnard.

Raby Castle near Staindrop has been the home of the Vane family for generations and is open to visitors. Lord and Lady Barnard seek to develop the Castle and grounds so that it becomes one of the foremost visitor attractions in the North.

Agriculture is also an important source of income for the Estate. As well as the Estate’s own Home Farm in Raby Park, there are many tenanted farms and a large number of houses and cottages in villages around Teesdale, many are whitewashed farmsteads and houses where families have been tenants for several generations.

Ownerships across Raby’s landholdings vary between Lord Barnard personally and assorted settlements including the Shropshire 1991 Settlement, Raby Maintenance Fund, the Raby Settled Estates and Lord Barnard’s 2018 Marwood Settlement.

Raby Estate business operations include in-house farms, let farms and residential property, visitor attractions and sporting enterprises across 3 Estates in Co. Durham and Shropshire.

Overview Of Role

Raby Estates are embarking upon major property refurbishment programme, and we are looking to recruit a hardworking and dedicated Workshop Joiner into our busy Buildings team to undertake the refurbishment and maintenance of our existing residential properties and farmhouses.

Job Requirements

  • Time Served and experienced Joiner
  • Ability to make all types of windows, traditional sash windows and doors
  • Possess a quality and attention to detail mindset
  • Creating cutting lists where required
  • Interpreting drawings
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition to ensure health and safety
  • Must be competent and able to use Bench joinery tools and Workshop machines such as: planer, spindle moulder, bandsaw, panel saw, planer thicknesser, crosscut saw , mortiser.
  • Must have a valid driving licence

What We Need To See

This is an exciting position, and the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a good eye for detail, be able to work independently showing initiative to complete tasks on time and on budget and be willing and flexible to undertake all other reasonable duties as may be delegated from time to time.

Ideally candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of construction experience, good construction knowledge, preferably with an interest and experience in working on traditional properties. NVQ level 2 of above would be preferred but not essential.
