Job description

Are you a qualified Joiner looking to further develop your skills and experience, or are you Multi Skilled Joiner with secondary qualifications and experience, again looking to further develop you skills, experience and career within a construction/repairs environment

If so, this role is definitely for you!

We are looking for Joiners to join our Housing Standards Team working within the areas of Maintenance and Improvement across the county.

Our Service

The Housing Standards Maintenance team are responsible for ensuring the Councils social housing portfolio of circa 8,400 dwellings is maintained to meet all current statutory, regulatory, and legislative standards.

The role

The core focus of this role is to carry out essential maintenance, refurbishment or construction works on social housing stock to ensure they meet the Decent Housing Standards.

At Joiner Single Trade level you will:

  • Carry out domestic Joiner repairs
  • Record and monitor supplied equipment as necessary
  • Work to expected Health & Safety standardsand safe systems of work
  • Undertake professional, mandatory and skills-based training.

At this grade further training will be available to enhance the skills base as required.

At Multi Skilled Joiner level you will:

  • Carry out maintenance and repair joinery work, and work for thesecondary trade in which you are trained,as per work orders or specification.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair work in allied trades as needed
  • Record and monitor supplied equipment as necessary
  • Work to expected Health & Safety standardsand safe systems of work
  • Undertake professional, mandatory and skills-based training.

At this grade further training will be available to enhance the skills base as required.

The role will come with a Council vehicle, you will be responsible for carrying out routine vehicle safety checks as required and must ensure compliance with requirements relating to vehicle use and maintenance.

What you will bring

At single trade joiner level,you must have relevant qualificationsand experience in a specialist trade relating to domestic joinery operations. You will have experience working in a domestic setting and be familiar with materials, tools and machinery used in the repair, maintenance, or construction of homes. You must always communicate efficiently and courteously at appropriate levels.

You must have knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and of Building Regulations.

You will be able to provide an out of hours emergency joinery service on a rota basis.

At multi-skilled joiner level,you will have relevant qualificationsand experience in a specialist trade relating to domestic joinery operations with a good working knowledge of other trade areas associated with the primary area of experience, such as, but not exclusive to plumbing. You will have experience working in a domestic setting and be familiar with materials, tools and machinery used in the repair, maintenance, or construction of homes.

You must have knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and of Building Regulations at Multi-skilled level and be able to communicate efficiently and courteously at appropriate levels.

you will be able to provide an out of hours emergency joinery and plumbing service on a rota basis.
