Job summary

Together Housing is seeking a Joiner to join our Repairs and Maintenance team covering the Calderdale area. You will provide all types of joinery repairs to tenanted and vacant properties with a customer service driven approach.

We offer a starting salary and benefits, including a company van and generous annual leave. You will work 37 hours per week with a flexible schedule between Monday and Saturday, and participate in a call-out rota every eight weeks.

Qualifications

• Joinery repairs to tenanted and vacant properties in accordance with job tickets, opti-time appointment slots, specifications and contract drawings.
• Right First Time workmanship with good quality and standards.
• Organise work to minimise lost or non-productive time and reallocate workload as needed.
• Overtime and standby rota availability as requested by manager.
• Adhere to safe working procedures and service standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all types of Joinery repairs in tenanted and vacant properties in line with tickets and specifications.
• Aim to complete repairs in one visit where possible with high workmanship standards.
• Organise work to minimise downtime and proactively reallocate tasks as needed.
• Participate in overtime or standby rota to balance workload.
• Diagnose repairs and obtain approvals for more complex or costly jobs when required.

We are looking for a Joiner to join our Repairs and Maintenance team, to cover the Calderdale area. As a Joiner you will provide all types of joinery repairs, to tenanted and vacant properties, with a customer service quality driven repair and maintenance service.

Requirements

Outline of Key responsibilities of the Joiner/ Joinery Technician…

• To carry out all types of Joinery repairs to both tenanted and vacant properties in accordance with job tickets, opti-time appointment slots, specifications and contract drawings, to good practice, Building Regulations etc as appropriate and applicable.
• To carry out work with an ethos of “Right First Time” always completing a repair where practicable in one visit, with good quality workmanship and good standard of performance.
• To organise your work to minimise lost or non-productive time, highlighting pro-actively if you have too much / too little work so that work can be re-allocated, extra work allocated etc as appropriate.
• To assist in addressing the peaks and troughs in workload by working overtime and at other times when requested by prior arrangement with your manager. To participate in a stand‑by or call‑out rota.
• To use your initiative to diagnose and undertake a repair which may be different from the job required or where the job required was of a locate fault type nature. Obtaining approval beforehand as appropriate where the job is more expensive than anticipated, will take much longer than anticipated etc.

• Starting salary £33,758
• Company van
• 27 days annual leave (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service)+bank holidays
• You will work a total of 37 hours per week, scheduled between 08:00 and 19:30 across any five days from Monday to Saturday. The exact schedule will depend on business needs at the time. However, to give an idea, a typical working week may be Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30. Please note that this is subject to change based on business requirements.
• Required to participate in the call-out rota for one week once every eight weeks.
