Job summary

Together Housing Group is seeking a Joiner to join our Repairs and Maintenance team covering the Calderdale area. You will perform joinery repairs in tenanted and vacant properties with a customer-service driven focus, aiming to complete tasks on first visit where possible.

The role offers a 37-hour week, a company van, and a range of benefits including generous annual leave and LGPS pension. A Full Criminal Disclosure will be carried out with a conditional offer.

Qualifications

• Carry out all types of Joinery repairs to tenanted and vacant properties in accordance with tickets, specs and drawings.
• Aim to complete repairs in one visit with high workmanship.
• Organise work to minimise downtime and proactively manage workload.

Job description

Requirements

• To carry out all types of Joinery repairs to both tenanted and vacant properties in accordance with job tickets, opti-time appointment slots, specifications and contract drawings, to good practice, Building Regulations etc as appropriate and applicable
• To carry out work with an ethos of "Right First Time" always completing a repair where practicable in one visit, with good quality workmanship and good standard of performance
• To organise your work to minimise lost or non-productive time, highlighting pro-actively if you have too much / too little work so that work can be re-allocated, extra work allocated etc as appropriate
• To assist in addressing the peaks and troughs in workload by working overtime and at other times when requested by prior arrangement with your manager. To participate in a stand‑by or call‑out rota
• To use your initiative to diagnose and undertake a repair which may be different from the job required or where the job required was of a locate fault type nature. Obtaining approval beforehand as appropriate where the job is more expensive than anticipated, will take much longer than anticipated etc
• To work to a consistently high standard of workmanship in line with service specification, service standards, safe working procedures and as part of a team to ensure the most efficient use of time, materials and resources etc

• You will work a total of 37 hours per week, scheduled between 08:00 and 19:30 across any five days from Monday to Saturday. The exact schedule will depend on business needs at the time. However, to give an idea, a typical working week may be Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30. Please note that this is subject to change based on business requirements.
