Position: Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

We are seeking an experienced and passionate SENCO to join our vibrant primary school in Hillingdon. If you are committed to providing high-quality support for students with special educational needs, we want you to be part of our inclusive school community. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the SEN provision across the school, ensuring the best possible outcomes for students with SEN.
  • Collaborate with class teachers, teaching assistants, and external agencies to develop and implement effective Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and assess the progress of students with SEN, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on effective teaching strategies and differentiation for SEN students.
  • Lead and manage a team of SEN staff, providing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Work closely with parents and carers to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s learning and well-being.
  • Oversee the assessment and review process for SEN students, ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements.
Who We’re Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and SENCO qualification (or working towards it).
  • Experience as a SENCO or in a similar role within a primary school setting.
  • A deep understanding of SEN policies, practices, and the statutory framework.
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A compassionate and inclusive approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
