Overview

For our London-based roles (salary £35,457) in Canary Wharf, Croydon and Wembley, sponsorship is available for applicants who qualify as new entrants under the Skilled Worker visa rules. For our roles outside London (salary £30,674), sponsorship is not available. The salary outside London is below the general Skilled Worker threshold (£41,700). Alongside your salary, VOA contributes to the Civil Service Pension scheme. We offer flexible working options, a generous leave allowance, and a Civil Service Pension with a substantial employer contribution.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake an integrated programme of work and learning to gain the right mix and breadth of experience required to complete the apprenticeship.
  • Advise public sector clients, survey and value properties for non-domestic rating, inheritance tax and council tax, undertake development appraisals and other related tasks as part of the apprenticeship.
  • Spend 20% of your working hours on learning and development activities and dedicate at least 10–15 hours per week to your academic studies.
  • Hold a role that exposes you to a variety of responsibilities and achieve the practical experience needed to complete the Level 6 MSc Chartered Surveyor Apprenticeship over about three years.
  • Travel regularly as required by the role, including potential overnight stays.
Candidate requirements and qualifications
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics (RQF England).
  • An honours degree in a non-property related subject at 2:2 or above.
  • Be able to provide certificates during the recruitment process; a statement of results or transcript is acceptable initially if awaiting certificates.
  • Candidates must not already hold a qualification at the same level or above in the same subject area as the apprenticeship.
  • During the duration of the apprenticeship, candidates are not allowed to undertake another qualification at the same time (including other apprenticeships, degrees, or placements).
  • Hold a full UK/EU driving licence (a provisional licence is accepted at application but a full licence must be attained within 6 months of take-up). If you are considered disabled under the Equality Act 2010 and do not hold a full driving licence, we will consider your application.
  • Successful candidates must meet the qualification requirements by end of August 2026, including the GCSEs and degree requirements listed above.
