Overview

Job Ref: LV WL, Part Time support worker for young person - £12.60/hr (Livingston, West Lothian)

I am looking for a friendly Personal Assistant to support a 16-year-old with Down syndrome and Autism 3 hours per week. She loves K-Pop, art, music and dancing. She has a fantastic personality with a great sense of humour.

This role is about supporting her to build independence, confidence, and social skills through engaging activities and meaningful time together. You’ll be working alongside her family and spending 1:1 time with her to help her thrive and enjoy life to the fullest.

My daughter sometimes finds it hard to communicate what she needs, and therefore it is vital to have excellent communication and listening skills both verbally and non verbally.

Responsibilities
  • Helping develop everyday life skills in a gentle and supportive way
  • Social tasks, such as going to the cinema, interacting with other people, building her confidence, going out for walks, assistance with art projects, and assistance with other leisure activities e.g. board-games, baking, music, dancing and playing
  • Personal tasks, such as assistance in dressing and undressing
  • Independent living skills, such as travelling

If you’re someone who genuinely enjoys making a difference in a young person’s life while having fun along the way, we’d love to hear from you.

Pay and Hours

The rate of pay is £12.60. The post is for 3 hours per week and the shifts will be TBC.

Requirements

It is essential that the postholder is a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme or is willing to join.
