Overview

As a Calibration & Maintenance Engineer, you'll collaborate with experienced engineers across the UK. Working on a range of technologies, including electronics, optics, and RF, your hands-on approach combined with office-based technical work will see you play a pivotal role in delivering outstanding manufacturing standards.

Placement and responsibilities

The opportunity Calibration & Maintenance (C&M) is part of our Operations directorate, covering different aspects of support for all equipment used for both product manufacture and test. C&M Engineers work closely with several collaborative functions such as Product Design, Test Equipment Design, Test Engineering and Quality Assurance to support our key customer: Manufacturing Operations.

  • Two five-month placements working with the following teams: Electronic Engineering - Bespoke Test Equipment commissioning & repair; Electrical Calibration - Bespoke Test Equipment & Commercially Available Test Equipment Calibration.
  • Daily activities include hands-on work on shop floor and in lab equipment, and office-based technical documentation and drawings.
  • Diagnosing and fault finding on Test & Process Equipment; analyzing fault-related data.
  • Authoring instructions and specifications; drafting and publishing drawing packs.
  • Opportunities to assist and lead several activities during placements.
Learning and development

You will have access to a variety of online learning platforms such as Percipio, YouLearn, Career Builder and Video Gateway. You will be able to choose training through our Learning Gateway, which hosts the formal course catalogue and indicates whether courses are delivered virtually or in classroom settings. If you want to lead a team, there is management training designed for people of all experience levels. The company provides up to £150 in financial support per year for further study in your own time.

Two online learning platforms are available for study: Percipio, YouLearn, Career Builder and Video Gateway. Speak to your line manager to learn more.

Qualifications

Working towards a degree in Engineering (including General, Mechanical, Manufacturing/Production, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Civil, Electrical/Electronic and Software) or Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics, Computing or Applied Science.

Additional information
  • Salary: £23,495 (dynamic).
  • Dynamic (Hybrid) Working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification.
  • Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. As a minimum, after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) checks, managed by MBDA's Personnel Security Team.
