Job description
Overview

As a Calibration & Maintenance Engineer, you\'ll collaborate with experienced engineers across the UK. You will work on technologies including electronics, optics and RF, combining hands-on field work with office-based technical tasks to support manufacturing standards. Calibration & Maintenance (C&M) is part of the Operations directorate, supporting equipment used for product manufacture and test. C&M Engineers work with Product Design, Test Equipment Design, Test Engineering and Quality Assurance to support Manufacturing Operations. In C&M you will rotate through different teams and may work in areas such as Electronic Engineering (Bespoke Test Equipment commissioning & repair), Environmental & Mechanical Test Engineering (ESS & Pressure Test Equipment), Electrical Calibration (Bespoke & Commercial off-the-shelf TE), Calibration & Mechanical Calibration (Positioner systems, alignment TE), and Maintenance Engineering (Process & Mechanical Equipment commissioning & repair). In each placement you will join a team of engineers with varied experience, working on equipment on the shop floor, in the lab, and in the office on technical documentation and drawings. You will diagnose and fault-find on Test & Process Equipment, analyse fault-related data, and may author instructions, specifications and drawing packs. Process improvements are standard in this engineering organisation, and you will have opportunities to introduce new equipment into Manufacturing as part of our value of innovation.

Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Engineering (including General, Mechanical, Manufacturing/Production, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Civil, Electrical/Electronic) or Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics, Computing or Applied Science to a minimum of 2:2.
