Job description

Join our dedicated Foundation Learning and Student Support team as a Job Coach and make a real difference in students' futures. We're looking for an enthusiastic, patient, and proactive individual to support learners with diverse needs in developing their employability skills. You'll work closely with students in classroom and workplace settings, building confidence and preparing them for successful, sustainable employment. Your role will include one-to-one coaching, liaising with employers, and helping students overcome barriers to work. Experience of working with young people with additional learning needs is desirable, along with excellent communication and organisational skills. If you are passionate about empowering learners and helping them achieve their goals, we'd love to hear from you.

We have an exciting opportunity at our Openshaw campus to join our Foundation Learning and Student Support Department as a Job Coach on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) basis.

Located just outside Manchester city centre, the campus offers a wide range of vocational and academic courses, with specialist spaces for areas such as construction, engineering, health, and digital.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum of a Level 2 support qualification in a specialist area or equivalent experience or willingness to obtain a Level 2 support qualification in a specialist area.
  • Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
  • Experience of working with young people and adults with a SEND in an education environment.
  • Experience and knowledge, empathy and understanding of the specific issues relating to the education of young people and adults with a SEND.
  • Experienced and competent in the use of IT systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of specific assistive technology or specialist software in supporting learners with a SEND.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
