Position: Youth Mentor (Job Coach)

Location: Skipton & Harrogate

Salary: £24,500 - £30,000

The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate, enthusiastic about supporting young people and motivating them to reach their full potential. You should have strong communication skills to build trust and foster relationships with both young people and employers. Flexibility and resilience are essential, as you'll thrive in a fast-paced environment while collaborating seamlessly with colleagues and external partners to achieve shared goals.

We provide vital support to young people across London, helping them assess their strengths, plan for success, and transition smoothly into employment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Job Coaching & Placement: Provide personalized job coaching, identify suitable job placements, and incorporate assistive technology.
  2. Induction & Awareness: Attend business inductions to help interns understand their roles and promote disability awareness among co-workers.
  3. Communication: Keep parents updated regularly and collaborate with tutors and mentors on student progress.
  4. Event Planning: Organize inductions, information nights, and graduation ceremonies.
  5. Marketing & Outreach: Develop marketing materials for newsletters, websites, and community presentations.
  6. Training & Development: Teach skills in grooming, hygiene, communication, and travel to job sites.
  7. Support & Problem-Solving: Address challenges related to training and employment with employers and families.
  8. Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to legal safety standards and promote efficiency in host businesses.
  9. Documentation: Complete job coaching paperwork and apply for Access to Work allowances.
  10. Continuous Learning: Stay informed about educational trends and collaborate with the team to support student welfare.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Training: Level 3 BASE Education and Training Award (or willingness to obtain).
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient with IT tools.
  • Innovation & Leadership: An entrepreneurial mindset with proven leadership and management experience.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience fostering a positive team culture and building effective partnerships.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage your workload and meet contract KPIs.
  • Relationship Building: Strong ability to develop relationships with stakeholders.
  • Service Development: A track record of creating new services and generating income.
  • Professionalism: A demeanour that builds credibility and confidence with clients and stakeholders.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Understanding of relevant policies and guidelines related to children and young people.
Experience
  • Experience of delivering mental health and wellbeing interventions in a case management approach.
  • Experience of working with primary or secondary health/social care services.
  • Experience of facilitating and supporting clients with complex and/or multiple barriers to success in health and social care settings.
  • Ability to demonstrate being highly organised, with good planning skills, and capable of delivering to targets.
  • Understanding of the 6 Ways to Wellbeing and its practical application.
  • Understanding of inclusion, mental health, and anti-stigma initiatives.
  • Knowledge of housing, health, and social care systems, and the application of wellbeing and prevention strategies.
