A local training organization in Lisburn is seeking a Job Coach (Catering) to support participants in developing their catering skills and work-readiness. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in a catering environment and holds a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate. This role offers 30 hours a week with a competitive salary of £13.21 per hour and various benefits including vacation and a flexible schedule.

Overview

Job Title: Job Coach (Catering)

Location: Courtyard Café, Stepping Stones NI, 39 Seymour Street, Lisburn

Salary: £13.21 per hour

Hours of work: 30 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 9am-3pm

Responsibilities
  • Supporting participants to develop catering skills by working directly within the Courtyard Café, and assist in delivering a comprehensive training programme that builds both practical and transferable workplace skills.
  • The Key purpose of the post is to support our learning disability participants to gain skills and confidence in the catering industry.
  • Support participants to develop work-readiness skills including teamwork, customer service, and food hygiene.
  • Work alongside the Learning Disability Support Manager and Courtyard Café Manager to create and deliver tailored support plans.
  • Accurately record participant progress and outcomes using IT systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with food hygiene, health & safety, and safeguarding requirements.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, including serving customers, taking orders, recommending specials, and liaising with kitchen staff.
  • Support participants with daily tasks such as cleaning, taking orders, and setting tables, providing guidance suited to individual learning needs.
  • Restock fridges, condiments, and food displays, and ensure tables are cleaned, cleared, and re-dressed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all food items served, including allergens and ingredients, to provide accurate information to customers.

Person Specification

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a catering or hospitality environment.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or above).
  • Proven ability to provide coaching, mentoring, or training.
  • Understanding of the barriers to employment faced by people with learning disabilities.
  • Practical knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety requirements.
  • Strong IT skills, including the ability to record and track progress.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to adapt to changing needs.
  • A clear commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in catering, hospitality, or training.
  • Experience working in the charity, social enterprise, or community sector.
  • Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities in a work or training setting.
  • Additional certificates in Food Hygiene, First Aid, or Health & Safety.
