The role

To scale our end-to-end embodied AI for autonomous driving, we are building a world-class Data Management team focused on targeted data acquisition to improve model performance and predictability. We seek a highly analytical and systems-minded ODD & Behavioral Competency Analyst to analyze Operational Design Domains (ODDs), traffic patterns, and regulatory behaviors across markets.

This role will define what data is needed, where, and how much to develop models with high reliability and generalization across geographies.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Analyzing and defining ODDs for each target market, considering geography, infrastructure, weather, road types, traffic density, and local driving behaviors.
  2. Identifying ODD boundaries, edge conditions, and failure triggers to guide data collection and system design.
  3. Building and maintaining a taxonomy of behavioral competencies (e.g., merging, yielding, unprotected turns, pedestrian interactions) for safe operation in each ODD.
  4. Quantifying the complexity and frequency of competencies based on traffic data, regulations, and observations.
  5. Developing frameworks to prioritize permutations of ODD parameters and competencies to optimize data collection and scenario coverage.
  6. Recommending minimal data slices needed for safe and predictable system performance in new regions.
  7. Analyzing traffic laws, enforcement, and driving behaviors in new markets to assess differences and risks.
  8. Collaborating with legal and safety teams to align regulations with system behaviors.
  9. Working with data engineering, safety, simulation, and product teams to translate insights into data strategies and deployment plans.
  10. Contributing to scenario library development, synthetic data generation, and test case prioritization.
  11. Using historical data and statistical models to identify data gaps and high-variance behaviors impacting MTBF.
  12. Guiding on additional data needed to meet MTBF targets in each ODD segment.
About you

To succeed as a Data Analyst at Wayve, you should have:

Essential:

  • 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, transportation analysis, data science, or related fields.
  • Proven experience with traffic system modeling, autonomous deployment, or urban mobility analysis.
  • Experience analyzing or defining ODDs in AV/ADAS contexts is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of traffic regulations and human driving behaviors across regions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, SQL, GIS, Jupyter) and visualization of ODD and scenario metrics.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and translate domain insights into technical requirements.
  • Experience in agile, fast-paced environments with a strong execution focus.

Desirable:

  • MS or PhD in Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields with specialization in traffic modeling or autonomous systems.

This is a full-time role based in London, with a hybrid working policy combining office and remote work. We operate core hours to provide flexibility.
