Job Description:
Our client is requiring a Buyer to cover a maternity contract for 6-9 months, with potential for a permanent role due to workload.
Overall purpose:
Purchase goods, materials, and services to meet the company's operational needs, considering price, quality, and delivery, ensuring continuity of supply.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager and Purchasing Assistants to share out purchasing enquiries.
- Promptly multisource for price and availability, collate information, and seek approval from the Supply Chain Manager before placing orders over 10k.
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities for savings using negotiation and procurement best practices.
- Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communication.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance.
- Use Sage/Newforma to issue orders and record price revisions or changes.
- Contact suppliers to resolve issues related to price, quality, delivery, or invoices and record relevant data in Sage.
- Monitor and advise on risks or opportunities to the organization.
- Check supplier invoices and resolve discrepancies to ensure prompt payments.
- Complete purchasing reports and update internal pricing spreadsheets.
- Provide cost analysis and support cost reduction activities, keeping CMs informed.
- Research new components and suppliers.
- Support the purchasing function and other departments, communicating supply issues impacting operations.
- Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, manage time effectively, respond promptly to emails and calls, submit timesheets, and attend meetings.

Place of Work: Hybrid (Reading Head Office, On-sites, and Remote)
Hours of Work: 7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday
Leave: 23 Days + Bank Holidays
Key Performance Indicators:
- Required goods delivered on time, to project specifications, and within budget.
Qualifications:
- Studying towards CIPS or similar qualification (beneficial)
- Full driving license
Experience:
- Previous experience in a purchasing team, preferably within construction or manufacturing
- Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, and commercial understanding
